Staying in Pelion can be a unique experience, whatever time of year and you choose to visit. Both Milies and the surrounding areas have many options for entertainment, giving visitors the opportunity to get to know every aspect of local life.
The area is known not only for its natural beauty but also for its traditional flavors. The particular gastronomic identity of Pelion is one of the reasons that attracts visitors from nearby or distant places. That specific homemade dishes can be enjoyed in an elegant spaces with traditional atmosphere. The options are many, both in Milies and the surrounding mountain villages, the recipes include mainly meat, pasta and pies, while descending towards the coast, fresh fish and seafood await the guests. Local wine and raki accompany these rich flavors.
Scattered in Milies and the surrounding mountain region, you will find little atmospheric cafes and bars to admire the panoramic view of the Pagasitikos gulf. Coffee is necessarily accompanied by a traditional homemade dessert and while drinks are served with fruits picked from the trees in the courtyard. During the summer months, in coastal villages, the shops next to the sea are ideal for a drink while listening to the sound of water, or even dancing right where the waves break. Pelion may seem to be a family destination, but at the same time is very welcoming and for groups who seek intense experiences on vacation.
In the summer months the locals organize feasts and festivals that give new life to the area, inviting visitors to experience and this side of the region. The celebratory festival of Agia Paraskevi takes place between 25 and 27 of July each year, including traditional music and songs. Also taking place in summer are the “Filippideia” a series of cultural events including concerts, exhibitions and many other events. In mid-August the “Milies Nights” take place and at the end of August the “Pear Festival”, the village fills with people, songs and good flavors.
